Self Promotion Mini Portfolio Concertina Books

I made these mini portfolios as part of a self promotion module at college this term. Each one is hand made and features ten examples of my work alongside my contact details. I'm, going to make them into little boxed sets to send out with a few other bits and pieces.

Hand Made Seagull Print Concertina Sketchbooks

I made some handmade concertina sketchbooks using the seagull pattern that I created to cover them. The concertina pages are made from 190gms cartridge paper with hand covered mount board ends and are finished off with a red ribbon to tie them up with.

Concertina Timeline Book

This was a project for college- we had to make a 'concertina book/accordion fold' book with the contents being a time line of our lives so far. This project happens to be branched vaguely between 2 separate modules of the course and as I am part time I completed one of these modules last year and am doing the second one at the moment- basically I got set the same task for the second year running! So instead of being a time line of my life it's a time line of the past year (since I made the last one- which you can see under the previous post 'book binding module'- it's the 4th image down). For the task we were all given a long piece of white paper to fold up to make the pages but this year to make it a bit different, instead of using the paper provided, I cut each page individually and then stitched them all together at the end. I used a combination of photographs, stitched illustrations and paper cut out writing to create the imagery in my book.
I have now added some more 'close up' pictures of this in a more recent post- enjoy!)

Bookbinding Module

This was a bookbinding 'mini module' as part of a bigger module entitled 'me, myself and I'. We got taught several different ways of binding books by hand including an accordion fold book, a post bound book and a chinese stab bound book. We had to fill the books with certain content about ourselves such as a time line of our life, 'me by numbers' and 'our favourite things'. We had to produce a final outcome to the project- I produced a little set of various hand bound books with how to make the book as it's content. I made a little bookcase to house them together in.
