jewelery (complemenatry studies module)

Last term we had a 'complementary studies module' in which we got to pick something outside of our specialty practice to have a go at- I picked jewelery. It was an interesting experience but extremely frustrating at times! I think that I needed to learn to have a bit more patience as a beginner! I'm not entirely pleased with the outcomes and I don't think that it is something that I will continue in the future but I'm glad that I did it and that I had the chance to learn new skills and techniques with different materials.

A Feast To Behold

This was our summer project this year 'A Feast To Behold'. We had to present a recipe in a 'visually interesting way'- the end result being an A4 poster (obviously I had to make it too....... quiche=yum!).

Here is another paper cut out design that I have done recently of a city skyline. Now that I am starting to get more and more in to this method of working I think that I really need to improve my technique and to work on making my lines neater.

Tea Cosy For James

For James' birthday I wanted to get him a tea cosy (he loves tea). I saw some really nice ones in the shape of hens etc but they were really rather expensive... so then I thought I may as well have a go at making one myself. I wanted it to be special to James, so rather than just making a hen I thought I'd ask him what his favourite animal was- slight mis-truth- I know exactly what his favourite animal is- it's a bunny... I don't like particularly like bunnies (and in all fairness I'll be using the tea cosy too) so.. the actual questions was what's your second favourite animals after bunnies? To which he replied 'a husky dog'....(how on earth am I supposed to make a husky dog tea cosy??) so I asked- ok then what's your third favourite animal? I think he was a bit fed up at this point and he said 'a dragon'- so here it is- James' dragon tea cosy!
